Sneak Peak

Just saw the starting lineup’s for tonight tilt at Fenway . Looks like Tek will get the start behind the plate tonight . Hopefully this will help Beckett settle in to a nice groove tonight and the Red Sox should settle for win number 2. Cameron will also play tonight getting the start in centerfield .

In other news Anthony Ranaudo made his Pro debut today for Greenville. Ranaudo allowed three hits over 5 scoreless innings. He was the Red Sox 39th pick in the 2010 draft .I also like Greenville righty Brandon Workman he along with Ranaudo could be a strong force in a few years in Boston.

Catching On….

With V-Mart most likely heading to the D.L and both Mark Wanger and Dusty Brown on the D.L. in Pawtucket the Red Sox will turn to Gustavo Molina to serve as TEK’s back-up. Molina should serve a pretty good backup. He has big leauge time in the past  as he has seen MLB time with Chicago , Baltimore and the Mets. The Sox seem to be playing it safe with brining him into the fold. However, they could of went another way by brining the number 10 prospect luis Exposito from Portland

The Sox have a pretty good core of catching Prospects both Wanger and Brown are  pretty solid and could both serve as everyday backups. Exposito looks to be the solid starter among the group however, Tim Federowicz could also be a solid starter as well.  Ryan Lavarnway who is a carolina All- Star has the best bat in the group but his catching skills need work .

In terms of what will happen next year if Tek hangs it up and they don’t sign V-mart look for them to go out and sign a catcher and have either Wanger or  Brown be the everyday backup with Exposito waiting in Pawtucket.

The future at Fenway I believe in terms of catching will look like this.

Luis Exposito

Tim Federowicz

TUCK RULE

The Red Sox value good catching and  V-Mart and Tek might only be half the story. The Bullpen coach Gary Tuck is considered a catching “guru” and is held in high regard not only with the Sox but in baseball as well.  Tuck also has minor league managing experience as well as being Joe Giradi’s bench coach in Florida. By having him as their bullpen coach not only can he pass on his catching wisdom but  the Red Sox can maybe  tuck him away as a manager in waiting .

met with the media yesterday. Mike Lowell is a class guy, really no surprise here he is a class guy on and off the field. I still think the Sox need to keep him around but, we’ll see. My mom always said “being nice goes a long way ” He will play this season and may or may not be with Boston but I can honestly say where ever he goes I will always be a Mike Lowell fan.

Every year the Sox sign a veteran to be the ultra super sub this year it’s Bill Hall. Hall who had a career year in 2006 with the Brewers has been unable to duplicate his success which landed him in Seattle. I really like this pick-up this could reap huge reward for the Red Sox. If Beltre has injuries or issues this year and Mike Lowell is gone the SOX will have themselves a solid replacement.  I also think he has a lot to prove and a ball player on a mission can mean good things for their club.
