Varitek’s New Venture
So after 15 years Jason Varitek will call it a game on Thursday.
As we bid farewell to the “captain” I can help but wonder what’s next for Varitek?
There have been the report’s of an undefined “job within the organization” as well as future business ventures.
All of this sounds great and I’m sure whatever he goes with he’ll do great but… I feel there is only one natural fit for Varitek.
Jason Varitek needs to sweat it out as a minor league coach/manager so he can someday become a future big league manager.
It’s a perfect fit. Varitek has all of the tools need to guide a big league club. If you need an example look no further than Mike Scioscia. The Angels of whatever they are called have had a solid skipper in Scioscia for over a decade.
Now I know some of you might be thinking well if Varitek has such good leadership skills how come he couldn’t stop chicken gate?
While he was the captain he was also still just a player I believe if he were the manager the only spread in the clubhouse would have been veggie.
So as we say goodbye to Varitek I hope we haven’t seen the last of him on a baseball field.
